Hill Country Developers Forum

Our Story

How a gap in the room became a gathering — and why we keep building it.

Developers didn't have a room.

Realtors have rooms. Builders have rooms. Investors have rooms. The development community in the Texas Hill Country had no dedicated space to convene, share knowledge, navigate the rules shaping this region, or simply be in the same room together.

Cody Musick saw that gap firsthand — in the questions developers were asking his team at Waymaker, in the conversations happening in parking lots after other people's events, and in the relationships that weren't forming because there was no place for them to form.

The first forum was thirty-five people. Almost every conversation that day included some version of the same thing: we needed this. So we built it again. And again.

"I'd rather be here, working on what matters, than attending a conference across the state full of irrelevant information for a high ticket price. We all need to be here and we all need to be here often."

35 People in the room at the first event "We needed this." — heard in nearly every conversation that day

The Hill Country Developers Forum meets four times a year, bringing together developers, engineers, surveyors, planners, architects, attorneys, and lenders around the topics that matter most to this region — ordinance changes, water, land use, infrastructure, energy, and the future of development in one of the fastest-growing areas in Texas.

Each forum is kept intentionally small — limited seats, no filler content, and time built in for real conversations. We keep it free to attend because the room only works if the right people are in it.

Founder & Host
Cody J. Musick, RPLS
CEO & Owner  ·  Waymaker Land Advisors & Surveyors

Cody founded the Hill Country Developers Forum out of a simple observation: the people building this region had no dedicated room to gather, learn, and connect. With more than 18 years of professional surveying experience, he saw firsthand the questions developers were navigating alone — questions that a good room could answer together.

He is a contributing writer for Land.com with four published articles on land advisory and development, and hosts each forum alongside CJ Musick.
